Napping 101
I slept like it was my job this weekend. It was awesome. Napping ranks up there with reading and scrapbooking as one of my favorite things to do. When I nap, I mean it. None of this half asleep on the couch with the TV on crap that Joe likes to call a nap.
some most weekends I nap with Mallory. After lunch we go up into my bed (awesome habit I know)to start the process that is the nap. Jammies must be worn, a true nap cannot be had in clothes. I turn the fan on (love me some white noise) pull the blinds closed, pick the poodle up (she also is a fan of the nap) and snuggle in with Mallory.
This mother/daughter/poodle bonding usually lasts 1.5-2 hours but this weekend naps lasted 3 hours on both days. I suppose I should be ashamed of myself but I dont. I have insomnia issues at night. I don't know why but it takes me at least an hour to fall asleep every night. Meanwhile next to me is Joe snoring his face off and making me contemplate smothering him with a pillow. Add that to the fact that I never sleep through the night EVER and you get why my blog is titled so.
Other than napping I did have a few fun moments this weekend. My BFF from high school had her TWINS on Saturday. That is better than ME having twins because I get to love them and send them home. Also I got to spend some time with Kelly and Nicole (and where were YOU)
Are you saving up your kids' goodies for this weeks "The Kids Said WHAT?" I already have a tasty nugget from Pierce....that involves GEESE.
Happy Monday!
18 people fed my need for attention:
Well, I took two naps on Saturday AFTER sleeping til 10:30 a.m. that morning. So I'm just as lazy. I'm tellin' ya, naps are LIFE SAVERS, aren't they??
Sounds like a great weekend to me! I didn't get any naps in but I was in bed by 9 on Saturday and it was heaven!!
I love some naps. My favorite are when I get up early, only to fall asleep on the couch shortly after.
I love naps too. And i take them as frequently as a I can get them.
I was at a Luau we committed to quite sometime ago. We were very disappointed to miss Kelly's birthday party. Someday we might actually get to meet you Cammie, but then all the mystery would be gone. ;-)
Seriously, I think we should work something out sooner rather than later.
I'm with you on the sleep thing, but maybe not so much naps. I like to sleep in late, and by late I mean I get up sometime between 2 and 4 in the afternoon. Two Sundays ago I got up at 4:20.
I might have something for you on Thursday. Teenagers sometimes come up with some gems too. I just have to remember to write it down.
I don't nap very often but when I do they feel delicious.
So jealous of you!!! My naps were interrupted by screaming children and a labrador who needed to pee...such is life...wouldn't change it though!!!
That sounds fantastic! There should be no shame in such enjoyable naps like that!! And why am I not surprised that you have a story about geese?! lol You and your geese!!
Ahhhh...the weekend nap...We just started making this a lovely ritual at our house too...it's awesome!
Naps are healthy too!
(cannot wait to hear what Pierce has to say about geese!)
I know what you mean! Why is it that falling asleep at night is so much harder than a cat nap in complete daylight??? It's like my body says "omgomgomg! its dark! time to parrrtayyy!" I don't get it. And I have to sleep with a fan every night because I have 2 snoring dogs (one is a pug) and a snoring husband that refuse to let me sleep. I swear I am going to get a recording of them one night. And use it as leverage. Hahaha!
I laughed out loud at the "smother Joe with a pillow" comment because Tom has said that about me. Yes, he recently told me that every morning of our 7 year marriage so far, he has wanted to smother me with a pillow because I am still asleep....ahhh, i feel the love!

My husband falls asleep way too soon too. I get very jealous as I lay there for 60 minutes. This is what I started doing, and it worked for a while.
Mentally shut down your body. Imagine a breaker box that lists your body parts (weird, I know.) Start with your toes. Turn off the switch. Then, your heels, your ankles, your calves, your knees, and so on. I fall asleep pretty quickly now.
I have the same nighttime issues. I try to nap on the weekends when I can, but my 7 month old and husband rarely cooperate so that I can.
Napping is my favorite past-time! :)
I love naps, you are my hero!
they say sleep is overrated. i try telling myself that but it just doesn't work.
naps are so wonderful!!
hey everyone,

I'm with you, I LOVE my naps. That is the best part of the weekend for me. And yes, it does need to be in bed. I don't know why, but it is the most peaceful and relaxing sleep I get all week.
