The price of remodeling

Yeah, so I'm not talking about the monetary price although that was a bit rough too. I'm talking about the mental price! For the next 3 days my house will be in total chaos. More so than usual.

Joe and I spent the weekend moving our living room into the family room toy room. At first the kids thought it was cool to have random furniture piled up in their space but that did not last long. We also had to clean out 2 closets that have not seen the light of day since Betty White was a little girl.

The most fun though was watching poor Joe tear out the cabinet and sink in our downstairs bathroom. It cost him 2 trips to Lowes and almost a finger. Good times. I had the task of cleaning the dining room. See, we don't so much DINE in the dining room. We have a beautiful round table in there and we use it to store our STUFF. By stuff I mean anything we don't know what to do with. I cant even define STUFF because it was truly just a whole lot of random.

Most of the STUFF in the dining room was my scrapbook stuff. It was everywhere!! I was in dire need of some organization. So, I talked Joe into letting me claim a little corner of it for my "craft". It was SUPER pretty until we moved more crap into the dining room that overflowed from the toy room



The biggest crisis of the day though? No, it was not trying to throw random kid toys away while they were not looking (I was like a ninja), it was not finding missing neighborhood children under our couches(ew)....it was THIS

Look close class....do you see what that is? That is my wine rack and in front of it is a CHAIR and tons of other crap. Guess who forgot to pull out a bottle prior to it being blocked? Guess who sent her husband climbing through it all to pull me out a rescue bottle? NOW who's a ninja??

Come Wednesday though it will be all worth it. I will have beautiful new floors and will be able to spend my free time watching my dogs try to run on laminate hardwood. And when cats puke up smaller cats on my floor a quick wipe up will take care of it. Good times? Indeed

I meant Whoring for a GIVEAWAY!!! I won a $50 gift certificate for a KozyPal Cart cover! I have one of these myself and it is awesome! I had to keep her business card's in the little pocket of it because I got stopped every time I used it to ask where I had gotten it. I am particularly excited to see that she know will personalize the cart covers with the baby's name! How cute!!

My cousin is currently pregnant and I cannot wait to give her one for her baby shower! Yeah!!

A few random thoughts from me today......

I leave for my girly weekend the DAY AFTER TOMORROW and I am so excited I just may wet my pants.

I had to stifle a giggle upon leaving the house today and seeing our jacked up garbage cans at the end of the driveway. You know....the ones I did NOT destroy......

Before I get into that though, I hope that even if you DID have a different political view that you wont be offended by this post. If you are...tough. Kidding. Sort of. That is the best part of living in this great country is that we can take part in CHOOSING who we want to lead us.

Pierce comes home from school yesterday (and by school I mean day care, but he is in a Pre-K class) and starts to tell me what he learned about why yesterday was important. I could not have said it better myself.

"Ms Beth told me today that after we take a nap and wake up then we will have a new president. His name is Barack Obama"

Funny, that is how I think a lot of us feel.....we took a 8 year really long nap and then woke up to a new president! I wish our new president all the best!!

Pierce also mentioned to me that he also learned about "A Dr that just wanted everyone to be happy and live in peace.....but then some bad guys shot at him and he died" Sometimes I wish we could all live in the minds of innocent children. I love that my children have such a diverse environment in their daycare. They have friends of all different backgrounds and races and never once have they asked me why someone has a different skin color, or why one of Pierce's little friends has 2 mommies. They just see their friends the way that I wish everyone in the world did.

So, today is my 21st 33rd birthday. I spent last night at a party at my mom's where the main course was wine with a side of little sister drama. However, good times WERE had. Today I have a wicked headache.

So I follow this blog called theoneminutewriter who gives a daily "thought" for something to blog about. I keep them on file for days when I may need some inspiration despite the advice from the lovely KristinaP not to stress myself over getting a blog out every day (I promise I wont and I will skip a day eventually...) A few days ago the topic was birthday memory....to post about your most memorable birthday. I knew right away that I had to save this for today.

7 years ago back when Joe and I were engaged we took a cruise that happened to have a day in Key West that fell on my birthday. By some miracle the 8 craziest people (us included) all wound up sharing the same dinner table on the cruise. We were that table that just annoyed the hell out of everyone but we had FUN! There was a couple in their 50s, a gay couple in there late 30, a newly divorced girl who came with a friend to party for a week, and us. We spent the entire trip with these people. The last day before being back was spent in Key West which is one of my favorite places!

I don't remember a lot of the specifics of this day (Im not saying I was THAT hammered....yeah actually I am) but I do know that this day (and really the entire trip) was one of the best vacations Joe and I have had. Someday we will do it again....
